DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCEDURE

Diathermy is one of the treatment procedures involving high-frequency current to produce a thermal effect. The diathermy method is based on heating the deep layers of tissues and organs using a high-frequency alternating current. In general, our specialists prescribe diathermy as part of complex therapy for injuries, musculoskeletal system disorders, and inflammation of joints, ligaments and muscles. 

HOW THE PROCEDURE IS PERFORMED?

The patient takes a lying or sitting position, depending on the affected area. The electrodes of various shapes are used in the procedure. They can be shaped or plate. Shaped ones are used for ears, eyes, as well as for rectum and vagina. Plate ones are applied to the back, stomach and chest. And for the entire body, a special couch to be used with two large metal plates installed. The procedure takes 20-40 minutes.

RESULTS OF THE PROCEDURE

Improvement in the tissue metabolism and CO2 elimination, decrease of lactic acid in the muscles, improvement of blood supply, respectively, supply of oxygen, nutrients and proteins. Therefore, the pH balance in the treated area becomes less acidic, promoting faster recovery and reducing the scar tissue formation. Besides, diathermy promotes lymph drainage, helps to improve the flexibility of joints, and reduces muscle tension.
